Nathan McSweeney is not out with 38 and Marnos Labushin with 20 runs.
Australia's Mitchell Starc took a career-best six wickets, and captain Pat Cummins guided two players to the pavilion.
However, when Mitchell Starc was asked about the plan after the match, he smiled and said there was no specific plan, just hitting the ball on the stumps and pads.
"My approach is always to hit the stumps on the opening over with the new ball," the fast bowler said.
"My aim is to attack the stumps and try to get wickets, it's a big Test match and a big series," Mitchell Starc said.
