Speculations of 'Hybrid Model' fans lament: 'Pakistan should boycott Champions Trophy'

PAKISTAN VS INDIA CHAMPIONS TROPHY
Pakistan is gearing up to host a global tournament for the first time since the 1996 Cricket World Cup, but the talk of a 'hybrid model' for the Champions Trophy has disappointed Pakistani fans.

According to cricket news website Cricinfo, the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) has told the ICC that it has been "advised by the Indian government not to send the Pakistan team."

According to Cricinfo, this development means that "the ICC and PCB will have to devise an alternative plan, possibly through a hybrid model where teams will travel to Pakistan and elsewhere."

On Friday, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that he had not discussed the hybrid model with him and that it would not be accepted.
So far BCCI or ICC have not commented on this.

What is meant by the hybrid model?

According to Kirkinfo News, alternative plans were drawn up a few months ago in the case of a hybrid model.

Pakistan was also supposed to host the Asia Cup in 2023, but for this, a hybrid model was adopted under which several matches were played in Pakistan and some in Sri Lanka, however, some matches of the tournament in Sri Lanka were affected by rain.

Pakistan is to host the 50-over tournament Champions Trophy next year i.e. during February and March 2025 and the renovation work of the stadiums is also going on in full swing.

However, due to political tension between India and Pakistan, the two teams did not play any matches except in major tournaments for 11 years. Indian cricket team has not come to Pakistan since 2008.
