Perth Test: After India, Australian batsmen also failed, 17 wickets fell on the first day

No batsman from India could score a half-century and Nitish Kumar Reddy was the top scorer with 41 runs. Virat Kohli's streak of failure continued and he could only score 5 runs. 7 Indian players could not even enter in double figures.

Rishabh Pant 37 and KL Rahul 26 were the other prominent batsmen while Yashvi Jaispal and Devdutt Padikal could not open the account of runs.

Josh Hazlewood was the most successful bowler for Australia who took 4 wickets for 29 runs. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Mitchell Marsh got two wickets each.

It should be noted that the said Test series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 ​​and India needs a must-win in this series to reach the final of the championship in June next year.

In case of a series draw or loss, India will have to depend on the results of other teams to reach the final.

India was recently whitewashed by New Zealand in the Test series at the same ground after being beaten by Sri Lanka in the Test series earlier.
