How did Pakistan's chances of winning more than one medal in the Paris Olympics end?

Pakistan won only one medal in the Olympics that concluded in Paris this month, a gold medal resulting from Arshad Nadeem's new Olympic record in javelin throw.

While Arshad Nadeem's success brought Pakistan to the list of Olympic gold medalists after 40 years and drew the world's attention to it, there were also questions about only one of the countries with a population of over 200 million. Why the medal and could Pakistan have won more than one medal?

If we look at Pakistan's participation in the Paris Olympics, seven players participated in four sports. One woman took part in 100 meters race two took part in swimming and three took part in pistol shooting and the seventh player was Arshad Nadeem.

Apart from Arshad Nadeem, the remaining 6 players could not qualify after losing in the first round of their match.

The Olympics are considered to be the biggest sports event in the world. Some of the best athletes from around the world participate in it, and qualifying for these events is considered a great challenge and a great achievement.

To qualify for these competitions, which are held every four years, a player must compete and win international competitions in their sport during that period. so that they can get a good ranking and maintain it.

The International Olympic Committee also announced monthly scholarships for about 12 Pakistani athletes. The purpose of this scholarship, worth approximately $650, was to help these players qualify for the Paris Olympics.

These include Arshad Nadeem and Pakistani first woman pistol shooter Kashmala Talat to qualify for the Olympics.

Apart from the seven-member Pakistani squad going to the Paris Olympics, a look at the pool of male and female athletes in the country reveals that some of them had the potential to not only reach the Olympics but also become strong medal contenders. were

So the question is why most of them were not seen playing for Pakistan in the Paris games. They include two players who have won gold medals for Pakistan at the international level in the past.

Weightlifter Noah Dastgir Butt and wrestler Inam Butt have represented Pakistan in several events including the Commonwealth Games, winning one or more medals, and especially Pakistan with Noah Butt winning the gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Hopes were connected.

Noah Buttt
Noah Butt from Gujranwala, Pakistan achieved success in weightlifting at an early age. He was not only the junior Commonwealth champion but also set a record by lifting more than 390 kg.

However, Noah Butt shot to fame when he won the gold medal for Pakistan at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. In this competition, Noah Butt lifted 163 kg in the Snatch category and 232 kg in Kill and Jerk, in total, he lifted 405 kg.

Recently, he won the gold medal for Pakistan in the 2024 Strongman competition in Uzbekistan.
