Virat Kohli Talks About His Retirement Plans
No one wants to leave unfinished business behind before they retire. Kohli, the former Indian captain, is the top scorer in his ongoing IPL with 661 runs in 13 innings at an average of 66.10.
India's star batsman and former captain Virat Kohli revealed his retirement plans in a recent statement at Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Royal Gala Dinner. Virat Kohli said that he does not want to leave any unfinished business before retirement. Virat Kohli said, "I think as a player we all have to finish our careers.
I don't want to end my career thinking, ``Oh, what if I did it on this special day because I can't do it forever.'' So the important thing is not to leave anything special behind, and not to regret it later.''I don't do that.
"Once I'm done, I'll be gone, you won't see me for a while," he added.
That's why I want to give my best before I play and that's what motivates me to play.'' Virat Kohli, 35, has been India's best player in the last 10 years. Since making his international debut against Sri Lanka in Dambulla in 2008, Virat Kohli has played 113 Tests, 292 ODIs, and 117 T20Is.
The right-hander has scored 26,733 international runs across all three formats, including 80 centuries. His number of centuries is less than that of Sachin Tendulkar, who holds the record for most international centuries (100). Virat Kohli has also been in great form in the ongoing IPL as he is the highest run-scorer with 661 runs in 13 innings at an average of 66.10.
Kohli will also be part of the Indian squad for the ICCT Twenty20 World Cup to be held in America and West Indies next month. India will begin their World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, followed by a match against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 9 at the same venue. India will then play against the United States on June 12 and Canada on June 15.
